Introduction
London is one of the most stunning cities in the UK. It has a fabulous mix of both historical and modern architecture that suits everybody’s taste. No matter what the season is, London can be the perfect place to visit all year round. However, there are peak periods that can sometimes deter you. For example, the summer period can be when London is at its busiest. That or the festive period when the capital is full of magical Christmas markets. Nevertheless, just like anywhere in the world, there are periods when some places are just better.
In this article, we will take you through the four seasons in London, explaining what you can do when you are there and how good the experience will be.

Exploring London During Spring
Spring is just the beginning of British summer time. It is when the weather gets brighter, slightly warmer, and tends to be drier than winter and autumn. During this period, London has gradually become busier because of the warmer weather.
When you are parading the streets of London, you will come across many parks. Some of those include Hyde Park, Battersea Park, St James Park, Buckingham Palace Gardens, The Green Park and many more. For a capital city, London isn’t shy of stunning greenery, which is what makes it one of the best cities in the world for just that. That is why it is fantastic to visit during spring when the flowers start to bloom.
During spring, you start to see more outdoor events too, which is something else that London is fantastic for. Due to it being in spring, they don’t tend to be that busy in comparison to summer.
Things To Do During Spring
London has a lot to offer during this period of the year. For those who love exploring the outdoors and enjoying Mother Nature, London certainly has you covered. You can visit Kew Gardens, where you can see the fantastic botanical garden that has a range of plants and spring flowers. If the weather is nice, consider a picnic at Hyde Park and enjoy the first lot of vitamin D that the UK has to offer.
When it comes to the events in Spring, there aren’t many. That being said, the Chelsea Flower Show is available, which is worth going to see. You also have the easter holidays where you can enjoy the easter egg hunts and other easter activities for the children. Finally, you have St George’s Day, where you can feel the patriotism in the capital of England.

Exploring London During Summer
Arguably one of the busiest, if not the busiest, periods in London. Summer is the time when the kids are off from school, so they need something to do. If you don’t have children, this can be quite frustrating, especially when walking along the high street. That being said, if you can avoid the busy areas of London, there is still a lot to enjoy.
In London, it is the peak period for beer gardens, riverside pubs and food markets. A time when you can enjoy food and drink, no matter where you are in the city, just because of the weather.
Things To Do During Summer
London is also the home to Wimbledon Tennis Championships, so for sports fanatics, this makes the perfect day out. A full day where you can enjoy watching tennis in the sunshine. It is a sporting event that is indescribable.
Festivals and outdoor gigs are in full flow during this period, and something that many people visit London for. See some of your favourite artists at some of the biggest festivals in the UK, including BST in Hyde Park, Notting Hill Carnival, Field Day, Wireless Festival and many more.
For those who don’t want to experience large crowds and loud music, there are plenty of other events to offer, such as Rooftop Film Club Peckham, Barbican Centre, Sunset Screening Sessions and much more.
There are plenty of things to offer during the summer time, so if you can cope with the busy crowds. It is worth a visit.

Exploring London During Autumn
Now we are getting to the colder months, and people think that London has hit its peak. That isn’t the case. London is still a fantastic place to visit at this time of year. In some cases, the weather can still be warm during this period which is why it is still good to visit. Furthermore, it tends to be quieter during this period because we have reached the end of summer and children are back in school.
Those parks that we mentioned earlier to visit during spring? Yes, they are fantastic to visit during autumn as well. The mixture of red and brown leaves with the green grass is certainly something that you should enjoy when it isn’t busy.
Things To Do During Autumn
Autumn weather starts to bring in that wind chill however, there are still plenty of things you can enjoy during this season. The West End is one of those places where you can watch performances at some of the best theatres in the UK. Although a theatre show can be enjoyed all year round, there is no better time to head towards a theatre and watch a West End show in Autumn.
For those food and drink lovers, there is a lot to offer here as well. First, you have the London Restaurant Festival in October, where you can enjoy over 50 culinary experiences. For the drinkers, you also have Oktoberfest, which is a German beer festival in London. A festival that originated in Germany but is now enjoyed all over the world.
October is also the month for Halloween, and London certainly celebrates it in style, which is perfect for your children. There are plenty of Halloween shows and experiences that can be enjoyed by all ages, so it is worth exploring.

Exploring London During Winter
In the UK, you are either a summer or winter person. You rarely find a person who is both. So, to some people, London will be at its peak in summer, whereas others believe that winter is the better season. That being said, London is truly magical during this time of year.
Winter is the season of festivities, and you can feel that in the capital. There are Christmas markets scattered throughout the city. Not to mention the wonderful winter wonderland in Hyde Park. London embraces Christmas, and thousands upon thousands travel to London just to experience it. Even people from overseas make their way to these wonderful Christmas markets.

When Is The Best Time of Year To Visit London
This is all down to personal preference. As discussed before, you are either a winter person or a summer person. It is rare that you are both. That being said, both summer and winter are great periods to enjoy London. So if you prefer the warmer temperatures, May to August offers the warmest weather where it tends to be much drier. However, if you are not afraid of the cold and rain, October to December is the best time.
January is also a good time to go because you have the January sales where companies are selling items at a discounted price. However, if you want to experience the best shopping deals then you could say that the end of November is the best time for Black Friday which is a shoppers dream.
The problem with Summer is that it is arguably at its busiest period, so getting around the city can be difficult. Not to mention, this is when most tourists will visit the capital because their children are off. This is the same during winter, especially over the Christmas period, when it is the school holidays. This is probably not the best time to go if you don’t have children and you wish to explore London’s wonderful tourist attractions at a less busy period. Honestly, London is always crowded, but is worth the experience.

When is the best time to visit with your partner?
If you are going to London with you and your partner, you will want to avoid the periods where there will be a lot of children, which are during the Summer and Christmas holidays. School kids in the UK have holiday breaks every six weeks so it is likely you could see them in Spring and Autumn, depending on when you go.
If you want to enjoy London for its attractions, the best time to go would be in the first couple of weeks during May. Make sure you don’t go over the May bank holiday as this will also be a busier period. You can also go in the final week of April if you wish.
If you want to visit London at a later date, the best time would be when the schools go back after their summer holidays. This is likely to be in the first week of September so consider going to London either the second or third week. The weather can still be relatively warm so you can still enjoy a lovely summer stroll in one of the wonderful parks.
Avoiding the school holidays is certainly the way to do it because a lot of parents will take their children to London during this period. Therefore, you can enjoy a lot of the attractions as much. Yes, you still get tourists from overseas but it is nowhere near the same level as those who are visiting during summer or winter.

When is the best time to visit with your family?
Families can be quite limited when they visit London due to the school holidays. This would either be the summer or winter school holidays, as this tends to be longer than the other breaks. The summer holidays are a very busy time, but there is so much to do during this break. Then you have the winter holiday, which is also a fantastic time because Winter Wonderland has plenty to offer for both parents and children.
Not to mention,
there is so much food on offer here. As a UK tourist, all you need to do is leave your vehicle at one of Hyde Park’s car parks, and you are safe to explore for the whole day. We do recommend that you go in the early hours because not only will car parks get busier throughout the day, but so will Winter Wonderland, so you want to enjoy a few hours of it before it gets too busy.
To really feel the festivities, you have to visit London to explore all of the Christmas markets, and there is no better person to do this with than your children. You’ll see their excitement and instantly want to mirror it, and all of a sudden, you are getting just as excited as they are when you see Santa.

Conclusion
There is no doubt that London is a fantastic city because there is so much to see and do, all year round. Whether you have children of your own, you want to enjoy a romantic getaway with your partner, or you want to do a solo trip sightseeing, there is so much to offer in the capital. From fine-dining restaurants, bespoke cocktail bars, traditional pubs, luxurious hotels and spas, high-end clothing stores and more, London is the perfect place you have to visit.
There is a reason why London has been voted the best city in the world, because there is so much going on, all year round. It brings a large sum of money into the economy due to the Royal Family and the tourist attractions that are all based in the Capital. That being said, it is very difficult to believe that London has managed to get above New York and Tokyo because of the weather.
